Computing

Our approach

At La Fontaine Academy, we take a purposeful and creative approach to the teaching of computing and we follow the Teach Computing scheme of work which is built around an innovative progression framework.

Computing is taught progressively through 4 unit types that embody the three main strands of computing and assessed on a continuous basis:

• Information technology (Creating media and Data and Information)
• Computer science (Computing Systems and Networks and Programming)
• Digital literacy (Creating Media, Computing Systems and Networks, Data Information)

In order to ensure and maintain safety is at the forefront, e-safety is specifically taught as a session in each unit whilst also being woven throughout each computing unit to ensure all of our students are equipped for the increasingly digital world that is before them.
