Outside of education, Mr Hopkins gained experience in leadership when working in retail and in an ASD residential school for teenagers. He volunteered for a year in 2012 to work with a L’arche community in the Philippines, which was a home for children and adults with a variety of needs that had been abandoned at birth. In the summer, he fills his time playing lawn bowls for Blackheath and Greenwich Bowling club.
