Empowering Our Pupils: Learning About Rights

RRS leaflets Sept 25

At La Fontaine Academy, we care about providing a holistic education that empowers children to be confident, responsible, and respectful members of our community. Learning about children’s rights, such as the rights to be safe, to learn, and to be heard, helps them develop a strong sense of self-worth. It also fosters mutual respect, as they learn that every child everywhere deserves to be treated with dignity and fairness.

This knowledge is not just about personal empowerment; it also supports our commitment to providing a positive and inclusive school environment. We encourage children to express themselves, speak up respectfully and participate in decisions that affect them.

To further support our pupils, they have been provided with a free, illustrated booklet and poster of children’s rights to keep and take home. Created in collaboration between STEP pupils and illustrators Pip Wilson and Ian Long, these fun and engaging materials are a great way to explore children’s rights together, both at school and at home.
